Lady and Lord of the Manor are the first bags of the HUNTING SEASON brand and speaks to the tongue-in-cheek style of the
1930s & ‘40s. Danielle and Jason’s creations are rooted in iconic glamour, echoing the film Gosford Park – rich fabrics, tufted
couches, elaborate homes, and hunting on a grand English estate are all conveyed in the Lady and Lord of the Manor. The bags bring
to life the autumnal tones, subdued sensuality, and sharp wit of the film, and of the era. Under the stiff, aristocratic air is a dark
magnetism targeted to both women uptown and down. “Our brand is inspired by exaggerating luxury. We wanted to create a
timeless product that appeals to women with a modern sensibility,” says Jason.
A hand-tufted bag with antique monogrammed buttons, Lady and Lord of the Manor is made of nappa leather, evident in its soft and
supple finish. Unlike the usual tufting process where material is stretched out on a standard wooden frame, each customized bag is
tufted and assembled by hand in Florence, Italy, and takes five to seven days to complete.
The bags are available in two shapes, Lady and Lord of the Manor, and a variety of styles, as well as five colors: hunter green,
saddle, burgundy, cognac, and black. Also new to the HUNTING SEASON collection are city and evening bags fabricated in exotic
skins such as zebra hide, lizards, and pythons along with satins and pony hair.
In addition to their own designs, the team acts as consultants to VBH, the international luxury accessories house based in Rome.
While in Bologna selecting their own leather samples at the Linea Pelle Fair, Danielle and Jason began their collaboration with VBH’s
head, V. Bruce Hoeksema. A 20-year veteran of the accessories business, Bruce met Danielle previously at Paris Fashion Week
during her time at Valentino. They have recently consulted on the VBH Fall/Winter 2006 season.
